Types of Neoprene Rubber in Wetsuits



Neoprene Rubber

Neoprene rubber is a best synthetic rubber preferred to create aquatic protective products. Some of the products are wetsuit, gloves, kneecap, etc.  Neoprene is used because of insulation property. Thicker suits are best for core sea water swimming purpose. Because the rubber can provide more insulation.

Types of Neoprene Rubber used in wetsuits

  • Standard Neoprene
  • Mesh skin neoprene
  • Super stretch neoprene


Standard Neoprene


This type of neoprene is not expensive and has the capacity of minimal stretch. It is very durable and does not break down soon when compared to super stretch neoprene. 

Mesh Skin Neoprene

This rubber is laminated with nylon on one side and other part is the exposed rubber. Extreme warmth is the property of skin neoprene. The process named evaporative cooling occurs while wearing nylon fabric wetsuits. Skin rubber is used in chest and back panel parts of wetsuits. 

Super stretch Neoprene

This type of neoprene is best known for its incredible flexibility and least resistance property. The flexibility is usually obtainable in the underarms, knees, shoulders, back and thighs.
